A place where I can vent and be me!

Well, I received a phone call from my mum this morning who was pretty teary- my dad just took my dog to the vet to get her put down. Poor darling had a stomach growth and the vet had said that it was not worth operating on.

They said to keep an eye on her and when she refuses to eat or move, then she is in pain. Well that time came this morning when she had not eaten for a few days and wouldn’t get up this morning.

I remember when we first got her- I was 12 years old and both dad and I had been hounding mum to get a dog for ages. She kept saying no for so long, and then one day she didn’t say yes, but she didnt say no either! That afternoon Dad and I were out at the hardware shop getting some wire fencing to put up!

Then it was down to the RSPCA to wait for a dog ‘our size’ as Dad put it, to come in. We got the phone call a couple of weeks later and when we got there, the receptionist told us it was down in the pens-" The little brown one with the red collar on" was the description she gave us.

Well, we got there- 2 brown dogs, and 1 chewed up red collar at the back!!  Dad wasn’t keen on that, but I was not going home without her! She bounded up the hallway, through the waiting room straight up onto my lap and …. well, the rest is history as they say!

When I moved from Coffs to Brisbane, I had to leave her behind and she became Dad’s dog.  Every time we went back home to visit she was still there and we saw her getting older. She was also nearly blind but could sniff her way anywhere!!

So a sad day from the home front today

Oh that is sad - my dad was recently talking about giving my childhood cat away when he moved house, but I put up such a stink about it that he didn’t!

Just think though, at least she’s not in pain now. :) Huge hugs…

Yes, that is true. She’s been around for 15 years and very much a part of the family.

    thanks for your hugs.
